From Ambition to Reality: How a Swift Appearance Transformed a Young Cosmetic Brand’s Future
In a remarkable turn of events, Aliett Buttelman, co-founder of Fazit Beauty, achieved a dream she had set on April 16: to have Taylor Swift wear her cosmetic product. Less than six months later, that dream became a reality when Swift was spotted at a Kansas City Chiefs game, adorned in a stunning Vivienne Westwood outfit and showcasing Fazit’s innovative makeup patches.
Buttelman and her business partner, Nina LaBruna, initially reached out to Swift’s team in May, sending samples to Lori Turk, Swift’s makeup artist. The duo had little inkling that Swift would soon be sporting their product. When Swift appeared on October 7 at the Chiefs game, the excitement was palpable. “As many have seen, I just started sobbing,” Buttelman recounted, referencing a TikTok video that has garnered over 7 million views. “To have your brand be worn by the No. 1 icon of our generation is validating for the hard work we’ve put in for two years.”
Fazit Beauty was born out of the desire to create accessible and user-friendly makeup solutions. Buttelman described the name “Fazit” as a portmanteau of “face it” and the “phases” of life, encapsulating the brand’s ethos. Their flagship products, makeup patches, represent a new category in beauty, allowing users to achieve intricate designs quickly—what they term “30-to-60 seconds instant glam.”
The impact of Swift’s endorsement was immediate and staggering. Following her appearance, sales for Fazit skyrocketed by 3,500%, catapulting the brand into a higher echelon of the cosmetics industry. “Taylor Swift helped give two young women in business so much leverage and negotiating power,” Buttelman stated. “She expedited the journey for us. We finally have the retailers of our dreams coming to us and moving mountains for us.”
With newfound visibility, Buttelman and LaBruna are excited about the opportunities that lie ahead, including upcoming partnerships with Fortune 500 companies and national sports teams. They are also planning to attend the remaining shows of Swift’s Eras Tour in cities such as Miami, New Orleans, Indianapolis, Toronto, and Vancouver, expressing their gratitude for the immense influence Swift has had on their burgeoning brand.
“She’s a positive influence in this world,” Buttelman reflected. “We’re most grateful for this opportunity she’s presented us.” As Fazit Beauty continues to thrive, it stands as a testament to the power of celebrity endorsements and the impact of believing in one’s vision.
